It’s the year 2000. Brent is an isolated gay teen trying to survive life in the suburbs. He’s obsessed with a popular television show about what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real. This season is shot in New Orleans where he lives. Under the warm glow of the cathode tube Brent falls in love with cast member Melissa Howard, just like the rest of us. Meanwhile Melissa is fighting for her life against the heavy weight of representation. The show feels more real to him than real life. Brent decides to break the fourth wall. He tracks down the location and begins camping out behind The Belfort in hope of making contact. When Melissa reaches back out through the screen his reality begins to crack.
